It's Black History Month

We'd like to say a big thank you to our Black donors and supporters.

1 October 2021

Black History Month 2021 logoWe're proud to be supporting Black History Month this October.

Throughout the month, we'll be acknowledging and celebrating some incredible people who do remarkable work for the NHS, as well as saying a big thank you to our Black donors and supporters.

The difference you make

Did you know organs are matched by blood group and tissue type?

This means that if you are Black, your decision could increase the chances of someone from the same ethnic background finding a suitable match and receiving a lifesaving transplant.

Black patients often have to wait longer for a successful kidney transplant compared to patients from a white background due to a shortage of donors.

Talk to your loved ones about organ donation

This year, we're highlighting the need to have a conversation about organ donation with those closest to you.

Talking to your loved ones about your donation decision could save lives.

Read why it's so important

If you haven't yet made up your mind about organ donation, now is a great time to read up about it and make the decision that's right for you.

Get the facts about organ donation

Have you registered your organ donation decision?

Once you've spoken to those closest to you about what you want, please register your decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register.

It takes just two minutes to do online.
