NHS Blood and Transplant now recruiting for organ donation ambassador volunteer programme
In alignment with our 2020 strategy, NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is developing a volunteer programme to empower individuals to promote education and awareness of organ donation in their communities.
Organ donation ambassadors will serve in a voluntary role to provide education on organ donation in communities through talks and donation promotion stands. These individuals will be provided with training, resources, and support to feel comfortable and confident in this role and serve as valuable links into the community.
Currently the programme is in development, but NHSBT is recruiting volunteers for the London pilot of this new programme.
This pilot will help test the operations of the programme, provide valuable feedback, and help inform a longer-term roll-out strategy.
We are recruiting from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Anyone with a passion for promoting organ donation awareness is invited to join, and we are especially encouraging donor family members, patients awaiting a transplant, recipients and their families, living donors, and healthcare professionals to share their powerful testimonies.
Passionate about organ donation? Or do you know someone who is keen to help share our message?
Applications are open now through midnight on July 2nd 2018. Details can be found at our vacancy page on NHS Jobs, along with an FAQ sheet, key dates, and a full description of this new volunteer role.
